Mary Had the Toothache

Poor Mary had the toothache

It near drove her insane

She stuck it out for near three months

Ohhhh! It gave her shocking pain

Then she went to see the Doctor

with a face so very sad

He gave her little tablets

And they left it not so bad

They lasted her a right while

Then suddenly went done

But back came the auld toothache

Like a bullet from a gun!

She went to see the Chemist

For to try and get relief

And he gave her little tablets

`till the toothache came to grief!

Now whenever she'd the toothache

She'd do anything for ease

Ach! But even with the tablets

She was very hard to please!

So she went to see old Blackwood

He's a Dentist down to town

His words were re-assuring

But poor Mary near broke down

"Your teeth are not so bad at all-

in fact they are quite good-

there's just the two I'm doubtful of-

I will pull them if you would?"

" If you would only sign this form

According to the law

I'll guarantee to pull the teeth

and not to harm your jaw."

She signed the form -- got them out

And now she thinks 'tis true-

The one sure cure for toothache

Is the Dentist!!  Wouldn't you?
