In Silence We Weep

Oh! breath not his name - let it sleep in the shade

Where cold and un-honoured his ashes are laid!

Sad, silent and dark are the tears that we shed

As the North wind that falls on the grass over his head

But the night dew that falls through the silence it weeps

Shall brighten with verdure the green where he sleeps

And the tear that we shed though in secret it rolls

Shall long keep his memory green - green in our souls
