Mary says “Cora is Johnny Pernickety”
Whist her two blinkin needles go clackity clickety! “Ooh leave that alone - hi! Oh don’t touch my wool!” Thinks “If I drop a stitch now won’t I look a fool!” “Oh Cora get back – get away from the pram! I’m going on with my knitting – I don’t care a damn!” She proceeds half a row, then her mind seems to say “It’s blinkin near time that I put on the tay! Now just as she’s finished , poor Cathal he blares Drops the knitting again now and runs up the stairs! Settles the baby and brings up his wind “It’s no bloomin wonder my knittings behind!” Cora now rises and comes from her chair And starts to torment me with wan lousy hair! I take it to please her – she heads back to her place Mary looks at her says “God such a face!” I look over at Cora and does she look cross! There’s enough in that look to just say she’s the boss! I look back at Mary – God help her she’s sittin Doing her best to get on with her knittin! “Hi here youse – now it’s a quarter to ten!” The needles and wool they are left down again! So if you’ll excuse me – I’ll call it a day I’ll put down the pencil and look for me tay! So – here’s the conclusion – I do hope it’s fittin’ The wife loves us all too - including her knitting!
I am assuming that I was about 4yrs old when this was written!-- Cora |
