When Auntie Marie Came to Visit

Aunty Marie came to visit in the month of June And we were so elated that we could have jumped the moon! We met her at the airport and brought her home with us So we could really spoil her and start to make a fuss! First she saw the Causeway and up along the Antrim Coast And we showed her all the scenery of which we like to boast. We took her to Fermanagh on a drive round the Lough Shore That's when Marie muttered "This Lough goes on for evermore!"
Mike and Marie went to Bangor to see the Big Tall Ships Where Marie steered the Captain's Wheel and dreamt of big long trips! Captain Hornblower would have been proud to see how she had done Unless he saw her mess about with that great big cannon gun!!   We'd heard so much about the stalls in Ballyshannon town. We headed off in the morning sun to have a good old look around. All we bought was a silver chain to the tune of seventy pence! Plus the money spent in the ladies loo or when Mike went to the gents!!
In Downpatrick's town we spent a while in the Church by St. Patrick's Grave. When Mike he took our photos, we give him a great big cheery wave! Marie sought a waste bin so she could chuck her batteries out but she popped them in a mailbox so that the Monks could sort them out!!

In Dongal we tried to shop in old Bundoran's town "Well bugger me" says Marie "There's nothing in this town!" So we bought ourselves an ice-cream and a card or two to post and tried our best to stay awake whilst we drove back up the coast!  "There's caves they call the Marble Arch that we should go and see" Said Mike  - so he went and bought the tickets, for Marie, him and me! The tour-guide's name was Barry and he said "You really must be fit  If you suffer with the heart or lungs - you just won't be fit for it!!"   So off we went to the Reception Desk to get our money back where Cora crossly told the Clerk that she deserved to get the sack!! Into the car we got again and we headed on our way. Each of us had a similar thought  "What an awful bloody day!"
We'd  planned a trip upon a boat where we could wine and eat We could have spit when we got there 'cos we were far too late! So - in Enniskillen we sat down to a coffee and two teas Then headed home to cook a roast with cauliflower and peas!!   Newcastle, Co. Down was our next port of call and once again it seemed to us  - there was nothing there at all! We nipped into a little shop to get just one postcard and couldn't wait to leave the shop as the music drove us mad!!   "But not to worry" Mike he said "Not everything is lost, I want us to enjoy this day -  no matter what the cost!" So he took us down to Maud's Ice Cream to enjoy a little treat and boost our flagging spirits and rest our tired feet!   Now Dungannon has a factory that makes crystal all by hand and a tour around these premises was just what we had planned. So Christopher he joined us and the trip was really pleasant and we hope that Marie loved it 'cos that's where we bought her present! Now her trip is nearly over and she'll soon be going home and I'm trying to recapture it in the form of this wee poem. We've had days that were really pleasant and days with only rain but the day we're wanting most of all - is the day she'll come again!!!
