It’s been a short life but a busy one I’ve travelled round the world one day and Sympathised at a friend’s passing on another I have witnessed declarations of undying love Paid bills, written to members of Parliament Written and cancelled cheques Signed last Will and Testaments Invited friends and neighbours to join various celebrations Such as Wedding Anniversaries Birthdays,Dinner Parties even ‘Naughty Knicker Parties’ For groups of bored housewives! I have responded to and sent numerous memos I have been passed from friend to friend and back again. It wouldn’t be the first time I have rolled around The bedroom floor or even on the office desk! The things that I have seen are sometimes Best left un-recorded. but when they have been It has only been because I have had no choice I have been pushed around and pulled In all different directions Against my will at every hour - day and night! All this though has gradually ground me down Has worn me completely out No more will I feel the pressure Of their manipulative grasp No more their grimy hands upon my body. Never again will I be their weapon of power Or destruction - my life now ceases as I am Broken, sharpened, and shaved to a mere pinpoint My life as a pencil has now come to a well-worn end! |
