Voices by the Lake |

| She had stopped to reflect by the edge of that lake On the life she was leaving behind.
In her head she could hear all their voices again And guilt now played on her mind.
She had come to this point to reflect on that deed In the uncanny light of the moon.
She had some thinking to do and decisions to make And then changes she'd have to make soon!
Beneath the billowy clouds she would surrender her soul Because she'd done something terribly wrong.
For her brother's young son she did covet and lust So she seduced him with wine and with song!
So the two were cast out from all family and friends And he took his young life with a rope. Now she'd come to this place to reflect on her life To find answers - and maybe some hope!
But no joy could she find as she stood there alone As those voices condemned her great sin. Then quickly she threw herself in |
They found her the very next day!
And the folks tell a tale of how on cold windy nights She still sings by the lake - so they say! |
