They said you've got until the 31st to try to write a poem
Then send it to the publisher and tell them who it's from.
They sent me several guidelines from which I had to choose
And after some consideration I thought -"What have I got to lose?"

I could chose from Little Willie with his antics and his tricks;
Or New Year Resolutions to which no-one ever sticks;
Or what about Life's 'funny side' which really makes us smile -
But I never wrote a single thing although I tried for quite a while!
ooOoo
They invited me to share with them what 'Love' it meant to me -
And that's excitement, contentment and lifelong security!!
I didn't want to bore them with my feelings "warm and true" -
So I wrote to Forward Press to just to say a BIG "Thank you!"

I'd always written dittys for each family member and each friend
And dreamt of being published but that's where the dream would end!
So - if i never have another published until my days are through -
Please accept this little poem as my way of thanking you!!
