The Princess's Reply |

Dressed in fine layers of ivory silk She did delicately drift with a sway They had met for a picnic on the local green On that cloudless mid-summer's day. There 'neath the shade of the tall willow tree His love for her he did proudly confess And then he proposed in a tone so soft and low To his charming and sweet young princess! She took a step back and hung her head low And was just on the verge of reply When who should appear but Who just happened to be riding by! He looked at the food spread out on that rug And said "That food does exceed a knight's pay!" But because his voice was so mellow and kind They then invited that young man to stay! So the three of them sat to partake of fine wine As they munched on some salmon and cress. Imagine the look on the face of those men When the princess let out a sigh and screamed "YYeeeeSSS!!" |
