I sang the blues at the masquerade ball
Because you never showed - you didn't call!
I was waiting all night but you didn't show
I was the only gal there who did not have a beau!
I sang the blues at the masquerade ball
As I stood all alone in the reception hall.
Dressed up like a princess with a
mask on my face
I knew your behaviour was such a disgrace.
The music it played and lights were dimmed low
As I watched loving couples all dance in a row,
There were tears in my eyes as they
danced round the floor
As I longed for your presence to
grace the front door.
Now my mask is abandoned and I now recall
How I sang the blues at that masquerade ball!
