CORA BARRAS, Mist Poet
You all know Cora Barras, our friend,
she reels off poems and ryhmes without end.
But did you know Cora has a site of her own,
and that she lives in Ireland, County Tyrone?
Away across the Irish Sea,
she writes in ryhme for you and me.
She'll make you sad, she'll make you smile,
all the way from the Emerald Isle.
Now Ireland's a lovely place to go,
a fact that I'm sure you already know.
I once had a holiday in County Cork,
(and I love the way the Irish talk!)
Around Cork's lanes and fields we roamed,
cow-parsley and hemlock on verges foamed.
All this in the company of a dear old horse -
(we were in a gypsy caravan of course.)
The horse was big and brown and strong,
all through the day he pulled us along.
Slow and steady, (I forget his name,)
he was kind and gentle and awfully tame.
We saw beautiful scenes that I'll never forget,
the weather was sunny and not at all wet.
Wild flowers in hedgerows everywhere grew,
primsoses, daisies and violets too.
Each night in a farmer's field we'd park.
One gave us poitin, and that was a lark!
To the creamery Farmer Declan took us one day,
and he charmed off my socks 'cos he sang all the way!
I really loved the Irish folk,
they love to sing and they love to joke.
Their hospitality impossible to measure,
The Emerald Isle is a priceless treasure.
Ever more treasures old Ireland does hold,
a rainbow revealing a pot of gold!
One day whilst passing a field of green corn,
I swear that I saw a leprechaun!
But let's get back to Cora the poet,
I love her writings, I'm sure y'all know it.
You must pay a visit to her web-site,
I know you'll enjoy and be filled with delight!
